Alaskan Brewing Co. chooses 2015 non-profit partner

February 25, 2015Jason Morgan

Alaskan Brewing Co. has chosen Gastineau Humane Society (GHS) to be the beneficiary of many of its fundraising efforts for 2015. The brewery has a tradition of choosing a new non-profit partner every year.

Alaskan-Brewing-Co“The choice is made by our crew through a voting process,” said Marcy Larson, co-Founder of Alaskan Brewing Co. “We start with a list of local non-profits, and then we ask every crew member to vote for the one they would most like to see receive our donation for the coming year.”

Last year, Alaskan Brewing was able to donate over $14,000 to the non-profit chosen for 2014, Trail Mix, through the proceeds of a number of charity events and through the donation of the brewery’s gift shop tip jar. Past non-profit partners have included Southeast Alaska Independent Living (SAIL), The Red Cross, The Glory Hole, Southeast Alaskan Food Bank, AWARE, Cancer Connection, Hospice & Homecare of Juneau and SEADOGS.

“Every year our crew has a tough job in deciding which non-profit to work with,” Larson said. “They are all so deserving and that’s a part of what makes Juneau such a special place to live and to make beer.”

Alaskan Brewing also donates to many other non-profit organizations through the year by contributing beer and merchandise for fundraising efforts that range from arts to health care to sporting events.

“All of us at the Humane Society are thrilled to have the support of such a great local business. This substantial contribution will help us continue with our mission to prevent animal cruelty and neglect, and to continue to provide a safe place for unwanted pets for as long as it takes to find them their ‘forever home.’ We would like to thank Alaskan Brewing and its staff for once again selecting Gastineau Humane Society as its non profit partner.” said GHS Executive Director Matthew Musslewhite.

Head over to the brewery’s website for more details and info on Alaskan Brewing.
