Marketing idea of the week: Lone Pine’s Holy Donut Pop-Ups

April 28, 2025Chris Crowell

Lone Pine Brewing Holy Donut

Boozy brunches are pretty much the best thing ever, but what they often lack is beer. Lone Pine Brewery in Portland, Maine, is ready to change that. Lone Pine Brewery launched The Holy Donut Pop-Up Series this month, a collaboration with the local icon Holy Donut.

This new series will feature a unique, limited-time breakfast experience at Lone Pine’s Old Orchard Beach taproom, combining freshly made Holy Donut potato donuts with Lone Pine’s signature craft beers and cocktails.

The Holy Donut Pop-Up Series kicked off with a special launch on April 19, but will run Fridays to Sundays from 8 am to noon starting on May 2 and continue through the summer season. It also earned CBB’s Craft Beer Marketing Idea of the Week!

Lone Pine Brewery and Holy Donut

“Lone Pine Brewery has always been about bringing people together over great beer, and we’re excited to partner with The Holy Donut to create an unforgettable breakfast experience at our Old Orchard Beach location,” said Tom Madden, Co-Founder of Lone Pine Brewery. “We’ve built a strong relationship with The Holy Donut over the years with collaborations, and now we’re thrilled to expand on that experience by welcoming them into our tasting room and beer garden.”

“Our longtime partnership with Lone Pine has always been something special,” said Jeff Buckwalter, CEO and Co-Owner of The Holy Donut. “Our brands, cultures, and creative styles complement each other so well, and we’re thrilled to team up again. This latest collaboration brings together our signature Maine potato donuts and Lone Pine’s incredible craft beers to create a fun and flavorful breakfast experience at their Old Orchard beer garden. It’s a true celebration of Maine’s local food and beverage scene, and we can’t wait for our communities to enjoy it.”

Why we like it

Donuts, great. Beer, love it. Donuts + beer? Feels like something conjured after twisting the Hellraiser puzzlebox, seeking the furthest experiences of pleasure. Meaning: I’m intrigued. Limited time treats are always a nice idea. The real reason this concept shines like a perfectly glazed donut is two local brands propping each other up with a wholly unique idea. The summer-only timeframe adds a bit of urgency for folks to get out there and join the fun.

Plus, there is a social and prize component : Lone Pine and The Holy Donut are inviting customers to share their experiences using the hashtag #LonePineHolyDonut and tagging both brands. Special prizes are awarded to the best posts.
