New 6,800-sq-ft space marks another milestone in Prost’s community-centered expansion strategy
Prost Brewing Co., a Colorado-based craft brewery known for its authentic German-style biers and inviting biergartens, has announced plans for its fifth location. The new biergarten will open in early 2026 in Wheat Ridge, Colo., within the growing Clear Creek Crossing development. At 6,800 sq ft, this space continues Prost’s push to expand its brand through immersive, community-focused venues across the state. The announcement follows a strong year of growth and visibility for Prost, which is quickly becoming a leader in the regional craft brewing scene through strategic expansions, award-winning lagers, and cutting-edge brewing technology that still respects centuries-old German traditions. From the press release:
“This expansion is part of our bigger vision of strategic growth through biergartens that bring people together over award-winning bier and German traditions,” said David Deline, president of Prost. “We have spent years developing a strong brand and an authentic cultural experience. Whether someone’s a regular, a traveler, or just curious, our biergartens create a space where everyone can drink like a German and feel part of the Prost community.”
A community-first biergarten experience

Prost’s upcoming Wheat Ridge biergarten is being designed as more than a place to grab a drink. Located next to Coors’ pond and with views of the Front Range, the biergarten backs up to a public park and amphitheater. It will be accessible to both locals and out-of-towners via I-70 and the Clear Creek bike path. The layout includes an open-concept patio and dining area, flexible private event spaces, and a full-service kitchen. One of the key features will be a 1-bbl R&D brewhouse, where guests can watch small-batch brewing in action. The bar will offer 40 taps pouring Prost’s full lineup of German biers, as well as ciders, wine, cocktails, and NA beverages.
Local partnerships will shape the food menu, including collaborations with sausage maker Charcutnuvo and XLVII’s Bakery. The food offerings will stay true to the German biergarten experience — hearty, flavorful, and ideal for pairing with a crisp Prost Pilsner.
Strategic growth built on tradition

Wheat Ridge joins Prost’s growing list of biergartens, which already includes Denver, Fort Collins, Highlands Ranch, and Northglenn. Each site serves as a community hub, celebrating the culture of communal drinking and eating that defines German hospitality. Prost’s growth strategy is intentional and steady. Instead of pushing into oversaturated national markets, the brewery focuses on deeply connecting with its regional audience. That hyper-local focus is paying off. In 2024 alone, Prost saw a 12.2% year-over-year increase in production, fueled by strong local demand and an expanded distribution footprint.
The Northglenn HQ: engine of innovation

Much of Prost’s momentum stems from its state-of-the-art brewery and headquarters, which opened in early 2024 in Northglenn. This 60,000-sq-ft campus includes a 10,000-sq-ft biergarten and one of the most sophisticated German brewing systems in the country. The production side is powered by a German-imported, 50-bbl, six-vessel Kaspar Schulz brewhouse. This system allows for traditional decoction mashing and precision brewing. Combined with open fermentation vessels and horizontal lagering tanks, the facility replicates the full spectrum of authentic German brewing methods.
Northglenn also features in-house yeast propagation systems, advanced filtration and recovery technologies, and a robust packaging line with tunnel pasteurization. The lab team can run comprehensive quality control tests on-site, ensuring every can and keg meets rigorous standards. This focus on technical excellence has made Northglenn not only the heart of Prost’s brewing operation but also a competitive player in contract brewing and co-packing for other beverage brands.
Real results in a tough market

Prost’s approach is clearly working. The brewery produced and sold 29,000 bbls in 2024. The new Northglenn facility alone contributed 11,000 bbls in its first year of operation On-premise sales climbed nearly 21% year-over-year, and Prost continues to grow off-premise sales as well. Flagship brands like Prost Pilsner (up 8.3%) and Vienna Lager (up 39.4%) led the charge, along with seasonal releases that helped grow the brewery’s Seasonal Program by 26.2%. Even amid an increasingly competitive and contracting craft beer market, Prost is finding ways to thrive — partly by doubling down on what it does best: quality, tradition, and local presence.
National recognition for local excellence

In 2024, Prost’s efforts earned international acclaim. The brewery’s Biergarten Lager took home a Gold Medal in the highly competitive International Light Lager category at the World Beer Cup. This marked the first time Prost had received this particular honor, though it had previously won multiple medals at the Great American Beer Festival. The Biergarten Lager is brewed as a German-style Leichtbier — a light lager with subtle malt sweetness and a clean, refreshing finish. It’s available year-round on draft and in 16-oz 4-packs at Prost’s biergartens. This kind of recognition has helped raise Prost’s profile, not just in Colorado but in its broader distribution footprint, which now includes seven states: Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Utah, Idaho, and Montana.
Contract brewing: built for the future

Prost’s Northglenn HQ isn’t just for Prost beers. It’s a contract brewing and co-packing powerhouse, offering a turnkey solution for craft brands, start-ups, and alt-beverage companies looking for high-end production support. With tank sizes ranging from 40 to 300 bbls and a variety of brewing systems — including a smaller 20-bbl pilot system — the facility offers unmatched flexibility. Its tunnel pasteurizer, can and keg lines, cold storage, and lab services make it ideal for brands needing consistent quality and scalable production. Prost’s contract brewing program covers everything from traditional lagers to non-alcoholic beer, FMBs, RTDs, and even mineral water. The brewery is also fully FSMA compliant and provides a certificate of authenticity for every product that leaves its doors.
Biergartens that build community

Prost isn’t just in the business of making great beer. It’s in the business of building places for people to come together. The design of each biergarten — from the flagship location in Denver to the new buildout in Wheat Ridge — blends traditional German aesthetics with modern functionality. Long tables, shareable food, and live music are all part of the experience.
The Northglenn biergarten, which opened in early 2024, features a large lawn space, outdoor games, a stage for performances, and multiple tap viewing stations. A self-guided brewery tour lets guests watch the brewing process in action. Wheat Ridge will follow a similar model, offering indoor and outdoor spaces that cater to casual visits, family events, and private celebrations alike.
What comes next?

As Prost eyes its 2026 launch in Wheat Ridge, the brewery shows no signs of slowing. It will continue to push for deeper community engagement in Colorado while exploring measured distribution growth in nearby states. Its biers remain rooted in traditional German techniques but are produced with a forward-thinking mindset that embraces sustainability, innovation, and accessibility. With a brewing system capable of rivaling the best in Europe, a rising reputation on the brewing stage, and a taproom model that encourages connection and loyalty, Prost Brewing Co. is proving that independent breweries can still scale — and do it with soul.
