Share your favorite beer-related memories on the Beer Institute’s Building Bridges with Beer page (um, the positive ones)

Last week, the Beer Institute announced the launch of a new online platform called Building Bridges with Beer. It’s a digital community, sort of a nice looking message board, where beer lovers across the country can share their favorite beer-related memories, stories and experiences. In the press release, the Beer Institute asks that you “submit your positive beer-related memory.” Not that beer related memory where you and your best friend Chris, still in high school, stole some Guinness from his parents fridge and drank it warm (more like August hot) in a cemetery by his house. That’s not the story we’re looking for here. That’s a story for this site. Here’s an example of what the Beer Institute wants — via Stephen Sutterlin from New Jersey:

I wish I had a photo, but it is unknown if one exists in a box somewhere. My story is about how I would keep a case of beer in my van during winter times. It kept it so refreshingly cold! It was always quite enjoyable to crack open a cold beer after winter activities. Whether it was sledding, snowman building, snowball fights or shoveling, a cold refreshing beer was always enjoyable after snowy work or fun!

Dang, that’s a pretty fun idea. Right on, Stephen. Way better than boiling hot Guinness. The launch of Building Bridges with Beer coincides with the Beer Institute’s 160th anniversary of the founding of the United States Brewers’ Association, which we now know as the Beer Institute. The platform is now live with a few good stories. From the press release:

“Beer has brought people together for centuries,” said Alex Davidson, director of public affairs at the Beer Institute. “Whether it was drinking your first beer at a baseball game or rekindling a long-lost childhood friendship over a cold one, everyone has a personal story about beer’s ability to connect people and spread joy. ‘Building Bridges with Beer’ is a place for people to share their stories about why they love beer. We’re proud to unveil this platform as the Beer Institute celebrates 160 years of advocating for America’s favorite beverage alcohol and the vibrant, competitive industry that brings more than 20,000 beer options to American consumers.”

Participants can submit their stories by visiting https://buildingbeerbridges.com/submit.
