Shiner Brewery donates $100,000 to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Ida relief efforts

September 7, 2021Pretty Much a Press Release

The Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas, craft brewer of the iconic Shiner Bock, recently announced a $100,000 contribution to the American Red Cross to support relief efforts in those areas impacted most by Hurricane Ida (Category 4) which made landfall near Port Fourchon, Louisiana on August 29, 2021, the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

Jimmy Mauric, Shiner’s Brewmaster, stated, “We are saddened to see how Hurricane Ida has severely impacted our neighbors in Louisiana. All of us in the Shiner family are thinking of and praying for all those affected.”

In the wake of natural disasters similar to Hurricane Ida, Shiner Beers and its ownership donated funds to charitable organizations providing relief services in the most affected areas. Most recently, in September 2020, Shiner contributed to Hurricane Laura relief efforts in Louisana. In 2018, Shiner supported relief efforts in Florida and Georgia following Hurricane Michael, as well as in the Carolinas and Virginia following Hurricane Florence. In 2017, Shiner supported those areas affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas, Hurricane Irma in Florida and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. Prior to that, Shiner contributed to the relief efforts for the catastrophic flooding in Central Louisiana in 2016, Hurricane Sandy in 2012, Hurricane Ike in 2008 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Big props to this brewery for its continued philanthropic initiatives.
