Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the 100 Best Places to Work in New Jersey. W&H Systems actually won.

Who is W&H Systems and why do you care about the happy people who work there? Well, W&H Systems has been a leading material handling automation and systems integration provider for 50 years. These smart folks are experts at warehouse automation — picking and packing systems, automated conveying, sortation systems and palletizers — not to mention online cataloging, warehouse consulting and software solutions.

So realize when these process solution brainiacs come to help your brewery or distributor figure out sorting, packaging and warehouse needs, they are work-loving go-getters, probably still bragging about being one of the 2014 Best Places to Work in New Jersey.

“W&H Systems is a company filled with dedicated people that truly love their jobs and are focused on providing nothing else but the best materials-handling equipment and project implementation that drives success within the supply chains of each client we work with,” said Donald Betman, president of W&H Systems. “The passion, teamwork and professionalism of our management team and employees are an inspiration, making it easy to come to work every day and collaborate with such a hardworking team of gifted people.”

The Best Places to Work in New Jersey program is made up of 100 companies split into two groups: 62 small/medium-sized companies (15-249 employees) and 38 large-sized companies (more than 250 employees). W&H Systems has been named one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey in the small/medium category. W&H Systems was chosen for giving employees an excellent place to work and grow in their careers for the past 50 years.

To qualify, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

  • Have at least 15 employees in New Jersey;
  • Be a for-profit, not-for-profit or government entity;
  • Be a publicly or privately held business;
  • Have a facility in New Jersey;

“In addition to growing our business and serving our customers, one of our corporate imperatives is to recruit talented people and create an environment where they can thrive,” explained Ken Knapp, vice president and general manager of W&H Systems. “By nurturing an innovative and collaborative culture where people with a variety of thoughts, ideas and backgrounds come together, we’ve been able to build a successful company and a great place to work.”

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the 100 Best Places to Work in New Jersey. Part one consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This phase was worth approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation. Part two consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This phase was worth approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.

The award program, created in 2005, is produced by NJBIZ. NJBIZ, program sponsors and partners will honor this year’s 100 Best Places to Work and announce their ranking during an awards dinner and ceremony on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the Hyatt New Brunswick.
