There’s a portable spoilage detection system and a hop extractor on display at this booth #CBC2019

April 9, 2019CBB Editorial Staff

The Craft Brewers Conference and BrewEXPO America is the biggest event of the year for the craft beer industry. There’s a lot to see and do, and to help you navigate it all, we present this #CBC2019 preview series. The 2019 BrewEXPO takes place at the Denver Convention Center from April 8 to 11.

D.I.E.C. and Hydro Dynamics | booth 8143

D.I.E.C. America along with Hydro Dynamics Inc. (HDI) are showing off two cool pieces of brewery tech this week at the CBC.

D.I.E.C.’s genesig q16 beer analyzer is a portable real-time PCR spoilage detection system that will solve spoilage issues and save you time and money. D.I.E.C. offers a variety of kits that can detect very specific species of bacteria, including S. diastaticus, super-attenuating variant of brewer’s yeast. More importantly, there is no need for any previous microbiological experience in order to operate the q16. Just follow the user friendly step-by-step manual consisting of both numbered and color coded lab equipment. The system and software will detect and analyze the spoilage for you. After only two hours, including preparation time, your beer will be inspected and results will be ready for review.

Hydro Dynamics’ ShockWave Xtractor uses the pressure fluctuations of cavitation for increased hop extraction. Brewers can reduce bittering hops, dry hops or other flavors by up to 50 percent while keeping the same flavor. Already in use at major breweries, the technology can also provide faster production, increased beer yield and less beer-soaked hop waste.
