Thonhauser USA to demo Smart Gel contamination evaluation, cleaning product: CBC Preview

April 3, 2014Chris Crowell

Thornhauser TM Smart GelThonhauser USA will be showing and demonstrating a new Smart Gel at the Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo America at booth No. 1937. This gel works like an ATP Tester in that it can be applied on any stainless steel brewing surface.

Spray on TM Smart Gel and the Purple Solution evaluates if contamination is present by changing color. In 1-2 minutes there would be a color change. If there is no color change, then the surface is free of contamination. The product is highly sensitive, accurate and a wonderful quality tool/assurance program for any brewery. The gel is easy to spray and then rinse with water. Thornhauser says the product is also a cleaner (Sodium Hydroxide).

Outside the brewhouse, brewery’s can ensure fresh-tasting glassware. Spray on and evaluate the glassware to see if signs of contamination exist. Spry it on the stainless steel sinks that clean the glassware too. The product cannot be used on aluminum, copper or zinc. Small Breweries can put together a quality assurance program without costly testing tools. The gel can be used in small sprayers or larger mechanical sprayers.
