Topa Topa turns 10: carnival, concert, and a decade of purpose-driven brewing

After 10 years of brewing bold beers and building deep community roots, Topa Topa Brewing Co. is throwing its biggest party yet. On June 14, the Ventura-based brewery will celebrate a decade in business with a lively all-day carnival and an evening concert — packed with craft beer, live music, family-friendly fun, and plenty of ways to give back. The anniversary bash marks a major milestone for the independent brewery and serves as a thank-you to the community that’s helped shape its decade-long journey. Topa Topa will host a full-day, family-friendly carnival at its Ventura HQ & Brewery, followed by a ticketed after-party concert at the original Downtown Ventura Taproom. From the press release:

“It is such a joy to be immersed in the creative spirit of craft beer while being surrounded by so many inspiring places and people. We love what we do and do what we love around here, and are supremely thankful for the support that enables us to do it,” [said cofounder Jack Dye].

From a tiny taproom to five locations

Topa Topa Brewing Co. was founded in 2015 by Jack Dyer and Casey Harris, two friends who shared a vision for creating a brewery rooted in quality, craftsmanship, and community. They opened their first location in a small taproom and brewhouse on East Thompson Boulevard in Downtown Ventura. It quickly became a local gathering place for surfers, hikers, and beer lovers alike.

Driven by Harris’s passion for brewing and Dyer’s focus on community impact, Topa Topa expanded steadily over the years. The company now operates five locations across Ventura and Santa Barbara counties — including its flagship production facility and beer garden on Colt Street — and distributes throughout Southern California and the Bay Area. Under the leadership of Dyer (CEO) and Harris (Brewmaster and Director of Brewery Operations), Topa Topa has packaged more than 12 million cans, grown a loyal following, and remained fiercely independent.

A carnival for the community

The 10th Anniversary Carnival runs from 12 to 5 p.m. and will feature:

  • Fair-style food and elevated eats
  • Carnival games, dunk tanks, climbing walls, and a petting zoo
  • Live music and DJs throughout the afternoon
  • Opportunities to give back to local nonprofits via 1% for the Planet

The evening concert includes sets by Vetiver, Sam Blasucci (of Mapache), and Farmer Dave & the Wizards of the West. Doors open at 6 p.m., and presale tickets are now available. One ticketed highlight during the day is the Founders Session Tour & Tasting — a behind-the-scenes brewery tour and vintage beer tasting led by cofounders Jack Dyer and Casey Harris. That’s pretty cool.

“Topa Is Ten” anniversary IPA

To mark the milestone, Topa Topa is releasing a limited-run “Topa Is Ten” Anniversary IPA. It’s a blend of some of their most iconic hop-forward brews: Chief Peak IPA, Blue Heaven IPA, Level Line Pale Ale, and Huckster Double IPA. The result is a layered, citrusy, and floral brew available exclusively at the celebration. Attendees who opt into the Founders Session will receive a 4-pack to take home. From the press release:

“Every beer we make tells a story, and crafting Topa Is Ten was like flipping through a decade of our hop notebook — each layer in this beer is a callback to what’s made Topa Topa special,” shares Harris. “We pulled what we love from the hoppy beers that built our brand, combining Chief Peak IPA, Blue Heaven IPA, Level Line Pale Ale, and Huckster Double IPA into one bold, celebratory, expressive IPA with layers of zesty grapefruit and tangerine up front, a floral mid-palate, and a dank, slightly tropical finish that lingers just long enough. It’s dynamic, but unmistakably Topa.”

A beer program rooted in craft and community

Topa’s core beer lineup includes:

  • Chief Peak IPA (7% ABV): A flagship IPA with tropical, dank, and citrus notes
  • Spectro Hazy IPA (6.3% ABV): A foggy, juicy hazy bursting with pineapple and peach
  • Dos Topas Lager (4.5% ABV): A crisp, crackery lager brewed for beach days
  • Level Line Pale Ale (5% ABV): A citrus-forward pale ale with a woodsy edge

All beers are brewed and canned at the Ventura HQ.

More than beer: a commitment to planet and people

From day one, Topa Topa has aligned its brand with sustainability and community impact. The brewery has donated nearly $500,000 to 1% for the Planet nonprofit partners and supports organizations such as the Surfrider Foundation, Los Padres ForestWatch, and Ventura Land Trust. The brewery is also a member of Crafted For All, advancing diversity and inclusion across the craft beer industry.

Cheers to the next 10 years

Topa Topa’s 10th Anniversary Carnival & Concert is more than a party — it’s a reflection of a brand that continues to lead with intention. With a growing presence, a deep community commitment, and an unwavering love of great beer, Topa Topa Brewing Co. is poised to keep climbing. Here’s to the next decade of beer, adventure, and good vibes.
