Abita Strawberry draft pours into Alabama

March 7, 2014Jason Morgan

Despite the Polar Vortex’s icy grip, spring is in the air with this year’s seasonal offerings streaming into taps and stores. Abita’s Strawberry Harvest, for example, is coming to Alabama taps for the first time. Alabama area restaurants and bars now offer Abita’s craft on draft throughout Auburn, Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery and Tuscaloosa.

Abita Beer into alabama“This strawberry brew earned a big reputation in a short amount of time causing the brewery to up its production each year,” stated Harry Kampakis, president of AlaBev. “Abita has been a huge success for AlaBev and we are happy to add another Abita tap to local restaurants and bars.”

Abita Strawberry Harvest is a lager brewed with pilsner, wheat malts and Vanguard hops. Real Louisiana strawberry juice is added, creating a crisp lager with a sweet strawberry flavor. It is the perfect beer to pair with desserts, salads and pastas, according to the brewery.

Abita was brought to Alabama thanks to AlaBev, which currently distributes to the areas surrounding Birmingham, Huntsville and Montgomery. They distribute domestic beer, domestic craft and specialty beer, imported beer, organic beer, draft beer, flavored malt beverages and coolers, cider, wine, alcohol free beverages and specialty foods. AlaBev is currently the largest distributor of domestic craft and specialty beer within Alabama.
