Boston Beer shuffles personnel in operations department

December 18, 2013Chris Crowell

The Boston Beer Co. announced that David Rocco has joined the operations department as senior director of supply chain, with responsibilities for planning, customer service, order fulfillment and freshest beer operations.

Rocco brings 25 years of supply chain experience from Staples, Accenture and Quaker/Pepsi where most recently he has led changes and improvements in complicated supply chains and with products where freshness was crucial. Prior to that, he held various operations roles in engineering, warehousing and product development.

Additionally, to support continued growth, Brett Atkinson will be assuming the new position of director of operations strategy.  In Atkinson’s new role, he will be working with senior leadership on long-term operations capacity and strategy.  Both Rocco and Adkinson will report to Tom Lance, VP of operations.

“We are thrilled to add David to our operations team,” Lance said.  “2013 has been an extraordinary year for Boston Beer Co. and our breweries have struggled to keep up with demand.  Servicing our wholesalers and retailers with high quality, fresh beers and cider, is key to our future business growth. I think David will bring new ideas and a different perspective that will help our expanded team address our supply and service opportunities as we also complete our brewery capacity expansions in time for summer 2014. ”
