Captain “Sully” Sullenberger to speak at NBWA’s annual convention, trade show

August 4, 2015Jason Morgan

The National Beer Wholesalers Association’s (NBWA) 78th Annual Convention and Trade Show will take place October 11 through 14 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The general session will feature an exciting lineup of speakers, including Captain Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger who is known for the “Miracle on the Hudson” on January 15, 2009. US Airways flight 1549 had just taken off from LaGuardia Airport with 155 people on board when a flock of Canada geese flew into both engines, leaving the plane without power. Descending at a rate of two floors per second, Capt. Sullenberger made an instantaneous yet calculated decision to land in the Hudson River, incredibly missing buildings and bridges, and miraculously saving every life on the plane and on the ground.

Capt. Sullenberger will share his inspirational story from that fateful day and will discuss the value of planning, leadership and focus to help prepare for disruptions of any kind — whether in business or in personal life.

“NBWA is thrilled to offer a dynamic convention program with insightful speakers, 23 education seminars taught by the industry’s leading experts and a trade show filled with vendors featuring innovative products and services for beer distributors,” said NBWA President and CEO Craig Purser.

With more than 275 exhibitors, this year’s two-day trade show will offer the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of new services and products, the association explained. Attendees can discover new resources to help improve business in a relaxed atmosphere, while enjoying a cold beer delivered by America’s beer distributors. Members of every sales and operations team will want to take full advantage of this event.

Registration is available online at www.nbwa.org/convention. Hotel accommodations at Caesars Palace can be made online or by calling (866) 227-5944 and referencing the National Beer Wholesalers Association or NBWA to receive the group rates. The last day to make hotel reservations and receive the discounted room rate is Sept. 17.
