Cool West Coast craft mavericks (Stone Brewing) launch distribution in classic Midwest beer nirvana (Wisconsin)

Wisconsinites, lock up your friends and family, so you can get some Stone IPA first.

The grand metropolis of Milwaukee has long been lauded as a beer mecca. The city has been home to some of America’s most classic, lowbrow lagers — Pabst, Schlitz, Miller, Blatz — some of those vintage brands have seen a nostalgia resurgence in the last few years. Wisconsin overall has become a craft beer incubator, home to solid brands like New Glarus Brewing Co., Sprecher Brewing Co., Minhas Craft Brewery, Lakefront Brewery, Stevens Point Brewery and let’s even throw Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. in there for shits and giggles.

The point we’re making is that these Wisconsinites like their beer — like they crave cheese, football and bratwurst (what a people, right?). That’s probably what Stone Brewing Co. was thinking. Let’s sell some quality West Coast-style craft beer into this beer/brat/cheese paradiso. So, the San Diego-based craft brewer will soon begin selling its beers to bars, restaurants and retailers throughout the entire Badger State with its wholesale partner, Beechwood Sales and Service. Beginning on June 14 (that’s tomorrow!), fans are invited to attend events celebrating the official launch, featuring an impressive lineup of special-release beers and Stone representatives at each location.

“Craft beer in Wisconsin has really started to gain momentum, and we’re happy to be coming back to the state,” said Stone Vice President of Sales Todd Karnig. “We’re very excited to add Wisconsin to our distribution footprint and contribute to the state’s growing craft beer scene.”

Wisconsin will join 42 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and 31 countries where Stone beers are already distributed. With the boost in production from Stone Brewing-Richmond, the company plans to distribute to all 50 states by 2017.
