It’s Craft Beer Week (CHEST BUMP), enjoy this cheeky video on the CBW national collaboration beer

May 16, 2016Keith Gribbins

What’s your favorite week of the year? The Christmas/New Year’s combo? The spring’s ultimate beer biz bash, the Craft Brewers Conference? Do you know what our favorite week is? Craft Beer Week. Saw that coming, huh?

Cue Tony Magee doing a bluesy guitar solo. Feel better?

All year round, beer weeks give craft beer fans and craft breweries across the United States more exposure, love and success. Beer weeks celebrate the culture and community of craft beer, and we think that’s pretty darn cool. It also gives breweries and beer businesses the opportunity to connect with the fans, which we think is even cooler. This year, American Craft Beer Week is May 16-22. What’s the highlight? Besides all the excellent tap takeovers, parties and community events celebrating craft beer? The national collaboration beer.

Cue Rhinegeist rap tune.

Small and independent craft brewers across the country have created a very special beer in honor of American Craft Beer Week. The “Biggest Small Beer Ever Made” was produced by participating brewers in all 50 states using the same ingredients and recipe. Watch the cheeky video above promoting it, and then check out Julia Herz’s quote from the press release. Then, go find that beer.

“There’s nothing more American than small and independent craft brewers and their amazing, full-flavored beer. American Craft Beer Week is a time to raise a glass and toast how they have forever changed our beer culture, economy, communities and country as a whole,” said Julia Herz, publisher of CraftBeer.com and craft beer program director at the Brewers Association. “Craft beer is a unique community where competitors work together to provide beers that represent authenticity, quality and innovation. The unity and collaboration behind the Biggest Small Beer Ever Made shows brewers believe that the success of other independent brewers is their own success.”

The beer, which can be sampled at over 100 breweries throughout the country, was inspired by one recipe. Each participating brewery was invited to brew the beer with the understanding that even with the same recipe, no beer could be exactly the same. This year also marks the return of the American Craft Beer Week Nationwide Toast. At 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Thursday, May 19, small brewers and craft beer lovers nationwide will raise a glass of the Biggest Small Beer Ever Made or their favorite indie craft brewed beer to simultaneously toast. To find a toast location near you, visit the official American Craft Beer Week events page. The map contains all other local celebrations, events and promotions for 2016.

We’ll cheers you then.
