Drop the puck! Craft Brewers Cup and Beer Fest takes over Montana

February 6, 2013Jason Morgan

It’s cold. It’s followed by a passionate fan base. And it’s ultimate prize is a Cup. Of course, we’re talking about hockey. Whether it’s brewing beer or playing hockey, you can’t stop determined craft brewers excited by an idea. That’s why there brewers are getting their teams together for the second annual Craft Brewers Cup Hockey Challenge and Brew Fest.

Don’t worry. There wasn’t a fight. They just opened the taps. The Craft Brewers Cup Hockey Challenge and Brew Fest bring together two cool passions — beer and hockey.

This March, craft brewers will be dropping the puck and their latest brews to benefit the Flathead Valley Youth Hockey Association. Players are asked to raise as much money as possible via pledges as a part of their entry fee, and the event is open to players of all skill levels.

The tournament will begin on March 1, at 1 Woodland Park Dr., Kalispell, Mont., and will be kicked off with a draft for former Cup Players and free agents who signed up without a team. The competition kicks off Friday night and continues the following Saturday morning. After the games are finished, the Craft Brewers Cup Beer Fest will start — giving all attendees the opportunity to enjoy both U.S. and Canadian craft beers.

For more information on this cool event, be sure to check out the Craft Brewers Cup website. If you’re in the area and like hockey and beer (who doesn’t?!) swing by to have a beer or even sign up to play. It’s for a good cause.
