Deschutes Brewery triples last year’s charitable donations amount

February 19, 2016Chris Crowell

Deschutes Brewery LogoDeschutes Brewery knows how to party, but it also knows how to be a responsible, upstanding member of its community. The Bend-Ore.-based brewery just announced that it was able to give approximately $860,000 to charitable organizations across their distribution area in 2015. Several different giving programs, including a few new ones, contributed to this amount, which was triple the amount donated in 2014.

  • Ongoing commitment dedicating $1 per barrel sold to deserving nonprofits exceeded $335,000.
  • Street Pub — a successful new event platform that traveled to seven different cities across the nation, setting up a “block party” for one day — donated 100 percent of proceeds to local nonprofit partners. In total, this new initiative raised nearly $400,000.
  • Community Pints — a brand new program that takes place at the brewery’s public houses donates $1 for every pint sold on Tuesdays to a different charity each month.
  • Sponsorships and in-kind donations to charity events both in Oregon and across the brewery’s distribution footprint.

Committed to building a healthier society, Deschutes Brewery distributed funds to hundreds of organizations that focused on the environment, youth and  education, family services, animals and those supporting arts and cultural activities.

A cross-departmental team of passionate co-owners guide community giving for the company, carefully evaluating where donations can have the most impact. Employees are also encouraged to participate in volunteer opportunities each quarter.

Here are some tips on how your brewery can start being awesome and giving back like Deschutes.

Nice nice, I would buy more Deschutes Brewery Portland Public House beer if they stocked their beer in more 12 packs.
