Dogfish Head’s Sam Calagione aims to lose 10 lbs, posts amusing Rocky video, promotes calorie-friendly SeaQuench Ale

January 3, 2018Keith Gribbins

America got even fatter over the holiday break, and some of that surely had to do with carb- and calorie-friendly craft beer. But no worries: There’s a new year stretched out ahead of us, and now is a solid time to start some healthy resolutions for the next 12 months. No more Long John Silvers. Not more bong hits before breakfast. No more Mountain Dew beer chasers. 2018 is going to be different. Maybe.

We’re not the only ones making changes. On the first day of 2018, Dogfish Head Craft Brewery Founder Sam Calagione embarked on a journey to lose 10 pounds in one month while still enjoying beer every day. He’s committed to having one 12-ounce can of SeaQuench Ale each day, which is Dogfish Head’s session sour mashup of a crisp Kolsch, a salty Gose and a tart Berliner Weiss. It’s only 140 calories. Calagione posted the amusing video above where he works out Rocky-style. He’s even coined the hashtag #JanuQuenchy. Maybe it’s time we followed his lead. Follow Calagione’s JanuQuenchy journey on Twitter, and maybe he’ll help you get off your ass.

And now for this #JanuQuenchy update from Sam! He’s one day in and so far, so good! Learn how you can join this month-long phenomenon over at https://t.co/xWwL1XjNNF! ???? pic.twitter.com/LB2rvSb3vh

Enter a lottery for the privilege to buy Dogfish Head’s $395 UBER growler (its Steampunk Treehouse design is admittedly badass)
