Founders Brewing Co. announced on its website that the second phase of its $26 million expansion is expected to break ground in April. This next move is said to include more equipment, an educational facility, additional offices, an outdoor beer garden and an enlarged taproom, deli and company store — all an extension of the brewery’s current location.

The website noted that about 85 percent of the capital investment is going toward brewing, fermenting and packaging equipment, all of which should move its annual capacity to near 320,000 barrels (bbls). There will also be an emphasis on energy efficiency.

All told, Founders said the expansion should net about 52 jobs during the next three years. The retail space and educational facility should be in use this fall. Stay tuned to Craft Brewing Business and Founders for additional updates throughout the year.
