Friday Fun: Choose from five spa beer treatments, including a Full Stout Facial

October 21, 2016CBB Editorial Staff

Four Seasons Spa massage
Only a beer could possibly make me more relaxed. Put one on my face, please.

Beer is usually used to massage the brain, so it only makes sense to pair a craft beer with a suitably soothing spa treatment. Together with 4 Hands Brewing Co., The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis has created five new beer treatments — from a facial to foot detailing — which the spa started offering in October. Like the brain, there are many benefits of beer for the skin:

  • Hops help exfoliate the skin, getting rid of dead cells
  • Active yeasts contain B vitamins and saccharides, which rejuvenate and hydrate skin
  • Inactive yeasts help balance the skin’s pH levels and can be beneficial for acne

Located in the LaSalle Park neighborhood of St. Louis — part of the Old Frenchtown area — 4 Hands Brewing boasts a 20,000 square foot brewing facility with 3,000 square feet dedicated to barrel ageing. With a focus on providing a well-rounded portfolio, 4 Hands offers four year-round beers along with several seasonal beers. Four Seasons Spa experts collaborated with the brewing team at 4 Hands to formulate the following offerings:

4 Hand Beerinese Massage

For this Balinese-inspired treatment, two therapists simultaneously perform the massage with long flowing strokes along the length of the body with moderate pressure. Warm stones are then applied to the back, and hops-infused oil is applied over the entire body. Upon completion of the service, enjoy a pint of 4 Hands Brewing beer.

Brewmaster Massage

The brewing team of 4 Hands Brewing goes full speed, not “Single Speed,” the name of their American blonde ale. When they need to unwind, they opt for this 80-minute Swedish massage that applies warm stones on the back, followed by a full body application of hops-infused oil. Top the treatment off with a pint of 4 Hands Brewing beer.

Full Stout Facial

Just like the Chocolate Milk Stout from 4 Hands that pours velvety smooth, skin will feel the same after this customisable facial. Four Seasons therapists tailor the treatment based on the individual’s skin care needs. The facial concludes with décolleté, neck and shoulder massage with application of hops-infused oil. Imbibe on a pint of 4 Hands Brewing beer after the treatment.

Hops, Barley, and Beer Foot Detailing

This foot detailing service uses a blend of hops, barley and beer in a cleansing and nourishing foot soak, followed by a hops barley scrub and application of hops- infused lotion. Guests enjoy a pint of beer from 4 Hands during this pedicure and leave with the vegan hops-barley scrub bar, which is made from whole leaf cascade hops, cleansing French green clay and moisturizing shea and cocoa butter.

A Full Head of Beer

In the salon, stylists begin with a specially formulated vegan stout shampoo, which gives hair gloss, volume and smoothness. Perfect for frizzy hair in a humid climate, the treatment is completed with a signature blowout service. During the service, sip on a pint of 4 Hands beer.

“St. Louis is such a beer city, and together with 4 Hands Brewing, we are bringing the benefits of beer to our Spa guests,” commented the Hotel’s Director of Marketing Tim Powers. “Beer aficionados can unwind with a hand-crafted ale and treatments formulated by our Spa therapists and the brewmaster at 4 Hands.”
