Good People Brewing Co. takes off in new Birmingham Airport Terminal

March 14, 2013Jason Morgan

In less than five years, Good People Brewing Co. has expanded sales across the State of Alabama and moved into the burgeoning foodie market of Nashville. For its latest feat of distributing strength, the craft brewery is opening a taproom in Birmingham, Ala.’s brand new $200 million airport terminal.

“We like being ambassadors for our hometown Birmingham, but also ambassadors for craft beer. All our servers at the Good People pub will be Cicerone Certified Beer Servers, which means they’ve been trained and tested on different beer styles, flavors and how to suggest pairings putting the right beer with certain types of food.” — Michael Sellers, Good People Brewing Co. founder and partner

Good People founder and partner Michael Sellers says the new airport taproom is a continuation of a rapid growth curve.

“Birmingham and our other markets have been really good to us. When we went from selling draft only through bars and restaurants to also selling cans in grocery stores it was big for us,” he said. “Opening a taproom in this beautiful new airport is also going to be really big for us.”

The Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport has undergone several years of work that culminates today in opening two new passenger concourses with several new restaurants and the Good People Brewing taproom.

“We really are proud to serve our beer here at the new airport,” Sellers said. “We like being ambassadors for our hometown Birmingham, but also ambassadors for craft beer. All our servers at the Good People pub will be Cicerone Certified Beer Servers, which means they’ve been trained and tested on different beer styles, flavors and how to suggest pairings putting the right beer with certain types of food.”

In 2008, Good People Brewing Co. was founded in Birmingham, Ala., by two friends with a love of drinking and brewing great beer. In addition to brewing five year-round “Ales from the Heart of Dixie,” Good People also brews four seasonal beers and their highly anticipated Bearded Reserve. Good People beers can be found in finer bars, restaurants, grocery and package stores across Alabama and other select markets across the South.
