Fare thee well Mitch Steele, craft brewing’s most recognizable brewer to leave Stone Brewing

June 15, 2016Keith Gribbins

We are enormous Mitch Steele fans. He’s one of the first big guys who didn’t care how small we were, giving our website great interviews and insights right from the start. We conveyed that big Mitch crush in a previous post:

Mitch Steele is a craft ambassador. Plus, he’s a really nice guy. That’s an increasingly rare combination in any industry today (extraordinary and unostentatious). Stone Brewing Co.‘s brewmaster has always been willing to step up and help out fellow craft compatriots with genuine and insightful advice on this site, for which we are most grateful. Few people know, make and innovate beer like Steele. Plus, he’s just entertaining. Watch him muse all over the Stone Americano Stout [in this video] — a bold, rich imperial brew that incorporates more than 250 pounds of artisanal espresso beans into the mash (along with Columbus, Chinook, Amarillo and Cascade hops). It’s a bold beer from a brewer that’s the beau ideal.

After 10 incredible years as its brewmaster, Stone Brewing Co. will be saying a bittersweet goodbye to Mitch Steele later this month after a decade of dedication. What will he do next? Watch above…
