Inside look at $19M expansion at SweetWater Brewing

August 21, 2013Chris Crowell

You may have heard about SweetWater Brewing Co.’s $19 million expansion that was completed this year. Thanks to GPB’s Georgia Works series, we all can take an inside look:

Sure, the company quadrupled its capacity, and sure it’s all beautiful new equipment, but the best nugget for me came at the beginning of the video. It has less to do with the fancy expansion and more to do with the creative craft brewing spirit that is still alive and well at SweetWater. Quote the tour guide:

“As we grew as a brewery, we had these smaller tanks our founder handed down to our brewers and he said ‘get creative, make whatever you want, just make it high gravity.”
