Among the hundreds of California breweries, there was a dry spot in Camarillo — until this June. Institution Ale Co. announced the upcoming grand opening of its 2,900-square-foot brewery, which will offer a spacious tasting room. Institution Ale Co. looks to provide Camarillo, Calif., with a fresh appreciation for craft beer and a new social spot for all to enjoy.
The new brewery blossomed from one local family’s ambitions to transform their longtime hobby of homebrewing into the town’s first craft brewery. Co-owners Roger, Ryan, and Shaun Smith will be a father and sons team, brewing unfiltered American style ales.
The brewery plans to unveil its three flagship beers when they open along with their summer seasonal. Once production hits full stride, six to 10 beers will be on tap at all times including cask conditioned ales, barrel-aged beer, experimental beers, and more.
“Ventura County is starting to embrace craft beer and we can’t wait to be a part of the local beer culture,” said Shaun Smith. “It’s going to be a lot of fun making beer for the community we’ve been a part of for so many years.”
The brewery will feature a modern-industrial style tasting room for visitors open five days a week, offering tasters and glasses of beer. Beer will also be available to-go in growlers and kegs.
“The tasting room will be a great atmosphere to sit down and enjoy a beer,” said Ryan Smith. “We will also offer tours of our brewery regularly for those who want to learn more about the brewing process.”
