Left Hand Brewing lends a hand to the UK market

September 2, 2014Jason Morgan

There’s been a good amount of news about craft beer going international. The latest comes from Left Hand Brewing Co., which  is strengthening its commitment to the United Kingdom. This September, the Colorado-based brewery will expand supply across the UK with distribution partner James Clay. In addition, Left Hand has established its first onsite, international brewery rep, Sharona Selby, to represent the brand in the UK market.

Left-Hand-LogoWith 10 years of international distribution under its belt, Left Hand Brewing has been an early entrant onto the U.S. craft export scene.

“For us, it’s about contributing to the craft beer movement,” commented Chris Lennert, vice president of operations. “We want to share American craft beer with the world.”

With presence in greater Scandinavia and Japan, Left Hand is excited to strengthen its distribution of world class ales and lagers in the United Kingdom. James Clay is a UK-based importer and distributor of craft beer with 25 years of experience.

“We have been fortunate to have presence over the years in mainland Europe. Our partnership with James Clay will provide us an established distribution in the UK and set us on the right path for years to come,” Lennert said.

Left Hand’s expansion will bring the brewery’s coveted Nitro series featuring Milk Stout Nitro in limited release for the first time to UK soil. The innovative nitrogenated bottles were first introduced to a London audience at the Beer Innovation Summit with enthusiastic reception.

“American craft beer truly unites innovation and quality,” commented Sharona Selby, Left Hand UK rep. “Something this good needs to be shared, and I am excited to see Left Hand become part of the wonderfully inclusive British beer community.”

James Clay will distribute Left Hand’s award-winning perennial line, including Milk Stout, Black Jack Porter, and Polestar Pilsner with limited releases of Milk Stout Nitro, 400 Pound Monkey IPA, and Sawtooth Ale. UK patrons can find Left Hand at Beer Hawk, Whole Foods, Barworks and craft pubs.
