The lowdown on PakTech’s low-waste can carriers for craft beer

March 8, 2018Pretty Much a Press Release

PakTeck can handles AHM Brands 2Made in Eugene and Cottage Grove, Ore., PakTech‘s environmentally friendly PCR handles are sustainable secondary packaging solutions for craft brewers looking for can and bottle handles that scream green. The family owned company, started in 1991, is a leader of 100 percent recycled and 100 percent recyclable injection mold packaging handles and automated application equipment. These PakTech handles are repurposed from HDPE No. 2 milk jugs. The PCR production process uses 100 percent less petroleum, 90 percent less energy and emits 78 percent less greenhouse gases vs. virgin plastic production. In 2017, more than 75 million plastic milk jugs were eliminated from landfills, re-purposed and reclaimed as the raw material that PakTech uses during the manufacturing process.

That’s pretty impressive.

Last summer, PakTech released its new can carrier design that is now easier to apply and easier to remove by the consumer. In addition to easier can removal, the company’s new handles stack more efficiently which allows them to fit 40 percent more handles into each box and onto each pallet. This reduces freight and waste which in turn equates to a substantial savings in shipping. The can carriers are available in a variety of configurations — including two-, three-, four-, eight- and 12-packs.

The bottle carriers feature a convenient built-in handle that extends above the line of the bottle caps and provides a secure hold for your favorite beverage. Featuring the same 100 percent recycled and recyclable HDPE resin, these are available in four- and six-bottle configurations.

PakTech also offers more than 30 colors, and likely has a match that meets most branding needs. These handles are easy to apply manually or by the company’s automated applicators. From design to final handle application, PakTech’s responsiveness, rapid turn-around time and big product offerings can add tremendous value to a craft brewers portfolio. For more info, click here!
