The Master Brewers Association of the Americas (MBAA) has launched a new award designed to recognize outstanding achievements by a single brewery in the development and implementation of an innovative process (or processes) that supports sustainability in brewing. Breweries that have completed a sustainability project from January 2011 to the present are encouraged to apply for the award.

The MBAA Brewery Award of Excellence in Sustainability is open to breweries of all sizes and will recognize a single manufacturing site based on a single project. Award applications will be submitted anonymously to the judges so that judging will be blind. Applications will be accepted beginning now through Feb. 14, 2014. Winners will be notified by April 1, 2014.

The winning brewery will be announced and recognized at the MBAA Annual Conference and will receive  two complimentary conference registrations, an honorarium, a plaque of recognition, announcement in the MBAA Communicator and on the MBAA website. The winning application will also be published in the MBAA Technical Quarterly and announced through media public relation outlets.

“We understand that companies will always struggle to balance the financial impact of a sustainability objective while building customer value at the same time,” said MBAA President Mary Pellettieri. “We believe that those who attempt this balance and do so successfully, deserve the recognition that MBAA can provide.”
