Night Shift Distributing adds two Illinois craft breweries to Massachusetts portfolio

December 12, 2017Chris Crowell

Night Shift DistributingNight Shift Distributing is a company that excites us. It was founded by Night Shift Brewing in 2016, which had self-distributed for four years and was fed up with local distribution frustrations (especially bad in Massachusetts) and wanted to bring a fresh, craft-friendly approach to distribution. We dubbed it a Great Moment in Craft Beer.

Night Shift Distributing is adding two breweries from Illinois — Solemn Oath Brewery and DESTIHL Brewery — to its distribution portfolio starting in December.

“We are thrilled to add two more Illinois-based craft brewers to our fast growing portfolio,” said Jeff Glennon, chief operating officer for NSD. “Solemn Oath and DESTIHL make fantastic, innovative beers, have amazing branding and are great people to work with. We can’t wait to introduce their beers to MA beer lovers.”

Solemn Oath Brewery makes craft beer in Naperville, Ill. They are driven by their passion for West Coast, Belgian and barrel-aged beers and made its East Coast splash at a tap takeover at Brewer’s Fork in Charlestown, Mass. Seven of the brewery’s beers were available, including Dibs — a brand new imperial stout brewed in collaboration with Night Shift Brewing.

“It is a unique opportunity to have the chance to partner with a brewer-born distribution company,” said John Barley, president of Solemn Oath Brewery. “Massachusetts is one of the most innovative, competitive and exciting beer markets in the country. We’re excited to work alongside a team of like-minded people in Night Shift Distributing to get our fresh beers into people’s hands.”

DESTIHL is an independent production brewery that was established in 2013 in Bloomington-Normal, Ill., after founding its brewpub business in 2007, to brew beyond the confines of typical beers. The DESTIHL lineup includes a variety of hoppy offerings, its innovative canned Wild Sour Series and bottled Saint Dekkera Reserve Sours, plus traditional German, Belgian and other beers.

“Massachusetts is a great market for craft beer, and we are very excited to have DESTIHL beers available to consumers there,” said Neil Reinhardt, director of sales. “Our approach to new markets has been to choose the best partner possible, and we couldn’t ask for a better one than Night Shift Distributing. Starting as a well-respected local brewer also gives them a unique perspective and insights that will be invaluable.”

DESTIHL currently distributes its beers in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin with availability in Washington, D.C., as well.
