Oklahoma craft breweries now allowed to provide free samples

Oklahoma Brewing bill
Craft B(rew)mer Sooner! Oklahoma breweries can start giving visitors a free taste in November after the passage of HB 1341.

Circle the wagons at your local Oklahoma brewery because free tastings are about to legally commence. Oklahoma House Bill 341 was officially passed and signed by Governor Mary Fallin and will permit licensed brewers in Oklahoma to provide limited free samples to visitors on-premise.

The bill was introduced in January, signed in April and will take effect in November. HB1341 was a joint effort among Oklahoma brewers as well as the newly formed Oklahoma Craft Brewers Guild.

The release announcing the successful passage of the bill gave credit to craft beer supporters in Oklahoma for contacting their legislators effectively to gain support for the grassroots bill. It also gave a late assist to the Brewers Association for activating its Support Your Local Brewer network to garner support ahead of the Senate floor vote.

“We could not be more pleased with the support we had from Oklahoma through the legislative process and finally in conclusion the governor signing HB 1341,” stated Wes Alexander, Marshall Brewing director of sales and marketing. “We feel this bill will help Oklahoma’s breweries grow craft culture through education and advocacy to all of Oklahoma, as well as develop a base for tourism in the region.”
