Perhaps you’ve heard of Owens Corning — the company is the world’s largest manufacturer of fiberglass. Perhaps you’ve also heard of Aquatherm — the company produces and distributes a unique and flexible polypropylene (PP-R) pipe for a wide range of industries, including craft brewing (PP-R is great for transporting glycol, but everything else as well). Late last week, Owens Corning Insulating Systems LLC announced plans to produce high-quality fiberglass pipe insulation with ASJ custom-fit for Aquatherm pipe as part of an exclusive agreement with Aquatherm North America. What does this mean?

Well, the introduction of these new solutions will enable insulators and mechanical engineers to confidently and easily work with the Aquatherm metric-sized polypropylene-random (PP-R) piping systems. The new AQ fiberglass pipe insulation will leverage Owens Corning’s existing distribution channels to introduce more than nine sizes and 22 SKUs (covering pipe up to 4 in. (125 mm) diameter) to the marketplace. This product line delivers a custom-fit solution that matches the outer dimensions of the German-manufactured, metric-sized piping systems.

“Owens Corning identified an opportunity to deliver a custom fiberglass insulation solution for Aquatherm North America that directly benefits customers and addresses a marketplace need,” said Alex Legall, vice president of sales for Engineered Insulation Systems. “Through this new agreement between Owens Corning and Aquatherm, the introduction of the metric-sized fiberglass pipe insulation eliminates sizing challenges related to metric conversions and enables an efficient, high-performance solution.”

Aquatherm produces and distributes PP-R pipe for use in pressurized plumbing and mechanical systems of all sizes. The company provides high performance, long-lasting and environmentally friendly pipes and fittings and is committed to delivering sustainable products and efficient systems across a variety of applications.
