Quarantine beer sales idea of the day: Allagash hosts virtual round table/happy hour on a specific collab beer

May 5, 2020Keith Gribbins

Sure, you’ve heard about virtual happy hours, but this cool one from Allagash Brewing Co. caught my attention for its specificity. It’s almost like an educational webinar (happening this Thursday) that you’re supposed to drink along with. Apparently, prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, Allagash had planned to join Russian River Brewing for an event at Brasserie Cantillon this week to release another version of the Wild Friendship Blend, a blend of spontaneously fermented beer from each brewery., which is already an awesome idea. The first version was released in 2014.

With travel on hold, Allagash decided to bring the celebration online to keep the spirit of the collab alive for its communities and customers. So it pulled together a virtual happy hour round table discussion that includes some great speakers:

  • Rob Tod, founder, and Jason Perkins, brewmaster at Allagash Brewing Co.
  • Natalie and Vinnie Cilurzo, cofounders at Russian River Brewing
  • Jean Van Roy, owner and brewmaster and Brasserie Cantillon

From the press release:

“While we couldn’t head to Belgium to launch the Wild Friendship Blend, we wanted to do the next best thing,” said Jason Perkins, Allagash brewmaster. “We’re excited to still celebrate spontaneously fermented beers and are looking forward to bringing together this cadre of brewing talent during this digital happy hour and round table event.”

Where to get that beer?

Need to stock up ahead of the celebration? If you’re in the Portland area, Allagash is now offering beer delivery to your home along with touchless curbside pickup at the brewery through Allagash on the Fly. Allagash recommends the Coolship three-pack for the occasion which includes Coolship la Mûre, Coolship Clermont, and a *brand new Coolship beer* Coolship Proxima. Don’t live nearby? Plenty of beer stores now offer pick-up and delivery options. Check out the Allagash store locator to see if your local store is offering delivery.

WHERE: From the safety of your home! Registration for the Zoom webinar is available here. The discussion will also be streaming live on the Allagash Facebook page.
