Rad philanthropy: Squatters Craft Beers and Can’d Aid partner to provide art kits to kids in foster care

December 3, 2019Pretty Much a Press Release

Squatters Craft Beers hosted a do-goodery happy hour on Wednesday, Nov. 20, during which volunteers joined Can’d Aid in assembling art kits for children in foster care and youth recently removed from their homes. While volunteers sipped Squatters beers, they assembled 200 art kits for donation to Utah Foster Care, an organization based on developing innovative strategies to help recruit, train and retain foster families. Utah Foster Care’s vision is for children who must spend time out-of-home to have “safe, loving, and stable homes until they can be reunited with their families or placed in a permanent adoptive home.”

“Engaging with an art project can help a child get creative, learn something new and be inspired,” said Can’d Aid Director Diana Ralston. “Art benefits all kids, but especially kids who are going through a trying time, who may be able to better process their emotions and find self-confidence and comfort in art.”

Kits included a paint set, a drawing pad, markers, chalk, crayons and pencils provided by Can’d Aid, an organization that spreads grass-roots, people powered do-goodery nationwide and focuses on four main initiative areas: Towns, Tunes, Treads + Trails and Love Yur Mama. Volunteers were encouraged to include an inspiring message.

If you missed the event but you’d still like to help get art kits into the hands of deserving kids, you can sponsor an art kit for $11. Your donation will provide a child in foster care with a creative outlet. Please consider donating here: http://bit.ly/2UOaqEG

“Squatters has always been a big proponent of creativity and local arts — the fact that we get to help kids makes this even better,” said Maxwell Christen, Squatters’ marketing manager.
