We’re super psyched: CBB is headed to Rogue Farms for the 2016 hop harvest

August 5, 2016Keith Gribbins

Cutting Bines hops Rogue Farms
Ah, harvesting Freedom hops at Rogue Farms. Do you think they’ll let us drive this?

Summer’s bittersweet final weeks are always a little brighter in the Pacific Northwest — thanks to the region’s increasingly growing hop harvest. Oregon, Washington and Idaho continue to lead the hop revolution in America, planting 17 percent more acres of hops (7,482 more acres this year), representing a record-breaking 51,115 acres in 2016. 51,115 frickin’ acres!

It’s simply an event we can’t miss.

Brewing professionals from around the nation will descend on farms in the Pacific Northwest in early September to enjoy the harvest, inspect hops, tour operations and celebrate the season with brews in hand. This year, we’ll be a part of that. The first full week of September (6-9), we will be teaming up with Rogue Ales & Spirits and Rogue Farms to bring you on-the-spot coverage of the high holy days of the hop harvest.

We can’t wait to hold a fist full of fresh cones in our hands, watch wet hop brews being concocted, roam fields and process facilities and capture the blossoming lupulin promised land of Oregon with images and stories. The dank. Oh, the dank. Situated in the rain shadow of Mt. Hood and in the heart of the Willamette Valley, we’ll be set up at the farmhouse on Rogue Farms, bringing you the experience of being a part of one of the most important harvests in American craft beer history. Big thanks to Rogue’s Anna Abatzoglou and Cheryl Gillson for having us out. We’re super psyched.

Until September, enjoy some hop pornog from last year’s Rogue Farms harvest.
