Rouge brews up BBQ Championship, donates proceeds

Thousands of beer and barbecue fans braved soaring heat to take over the streets outside the Rogue Distillery and Public House in northwest Portland for the 20th Annual Bones and Brew, a celebration of the great American backyard BBQ.

Rouge Craft Beer BBQThe only thing hotter than the temperatures were the wings, forcing the participants in the Hot Wing Eating Contest to lose their shirts in order to endure the grueling competition.

For those who chose the fully-clothed option, they beat the heat with more than 30 craft beers and the delicious ‘cue served by Slabtown Ribs, Duke’s Country Bar and Grill, Brothers Time and Khao San Thai.

This year’s Bones and Brew featured the 2014 Rogue Nation BBQ Championship. Top honors went to Slabtown Ribs, which earned the title of Rogue Nation Grand Kahuna. Khao San Thai took second place as the Rogue Nation Almost Grand Kahuna.

The gathering also marked the Annual Summit of Rogue Nation Citizens. Hundreds of new citizens, both human and dog, were sworn in as fully fledged members.

The attendees also crowned a new Miss Rogue Nation (Human) and Miss Rogue Nation (Dog)

Proceeds from the 20th Annual Bones and Brew will benefit New Generations Rotary.
