A group of San Diego breweries will host the seventh annual Pucks & Pints charity hockey game and festival on Saturday, March 29 at Pechanga Arena and neighboring Bay City Brewing.
Last year’s Pucks & Pints sold out and raised more than $35,000, a record for the six-year history of the event. Including this year’s event, Pucks & Pints will have raised nearly $150,000 in total for worthy charities in San Diego.
“With our new collaboration with Bay City Brewing, the excitement is even further elevated for Pucks & Pints,” said event co-founder Todd Webster of Thorn Brewing. “The brewing community and our sponsors continue to rally in celebration of hockey, craft beer, and charity, with even more brewery involvement, delicious food donated by Phil’s BBQ, and exciting action from the San Diego Gulls.”
A limited-release collaboration beer is being created at Stone Brewing Liberty Station for the festival: Pucks and Pints 7, a light blonde session ale infused with mango and made with fruity New Zealand hops.

The Pucks & Pints event includes a hockey game with staff members of San Diego craft breweries at 12:30 p.m., the beer-and-BBQ festival from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m., and the San Diego Gulls game with the Calgary Wranglers at 6:00 p.m.
Tickets, which include entry to all three segments of the day, are $65 and can be purchased here. All proceeds benefit five local non-profit organizations:
- Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego,
- Emilio Nares Foundation,
- Resque Ranch,
- San Diego Brewers Guild, and
- San Diego Chill, which is dedicated to bringing skating and ice hockey to children of all ages with developmental disabilities.
“We are honored to be among the group of beneficiaries for this event that has become a staple of the craft beer community and beyond,” said Brewers Guild Executive Director Erik Fowler. “The event keeps trending up with more and more money being raised every year for several worthy causes. Pucks, pints, and Phil’s is a wonderful way to spend a San Diego day.”
The festival at Bay City Brewing, which is located across the street from the north parking lot of Pechanga Arena, includes all-you-can-eat selections from Phil’s BBQ and unlimited samples from several local craft breweries. (Due to permitting regulations, the festival is 21+ only; children are welcome to attend both the brewers and Gulls hockey games, but they will not be admitted to the festival.)
Rosters are being finalized for the brewers’ game, and confirmed players include representatives from Bay City Brewing, Karl Strauss Brewing Company, San Diego Brewing Company, Societe Brewing, Stone Brewing, and Thorn. Teams will be announced a week prior to the event.
