Shipyard Brewing’s success has a lot to do with Shipyard Export Ale

November 18, 2014Keith Gribbins

Earlier this month, we traced Shipyard Brewing Co.‘s history back to the picturesque seacoast village of Kennebunkport Harbor, where, in 1992, entrepreneur Fred Forsley and master brewer Alan Pugsley started Federal Jack’s Restaurant & Brew Pub, the birthplace of Shipyard ales. For more than 20 years, Shipyard Brewing has made quality craft beer from both Kennebunkport Harbor and its expansive facilities in Portland, Maine. Much of its success over the last two decades has to do with the brewery’s excellent Shipyard Export Ale. The full-bodied ale, with a hint of sweetness up front, a subtle and distinctive hop taste, and a very clean finish, has become the flagship brand of Shipyard Brewing Co. The company recently created this video thanking the Export Ale. Hey, we’ve thanked it and Shipyard Brewing many a night too.
