The CDR BeerLab via Gusmer measures 15 different parameters in beer, eight in water

July 26, 2022Pete McNeil

The new CDR BeerLab, exclusively distributed in the United States by Gusmer Enterprises, is a maintenance-free LED photometer that can provide key analytical lab data in minutes.

It “measures 15 different parameters in beer and eight different parameters in brewing water, so you can measure your salts and so forth,” says Calvin Watkins in this overview at the Craft Brewers Conference 2022.

It uses a photometry-based analyzer, and the tests are “run with specific kits that include all your reagents so you don’t have to buy any reagents,” Watkins says. “All of the reagents are pre-filled; all of the kits are validated.

All you really need a pipette, your samples and …

“In the case of beer, you would need also an ultrasonic bath, and if you’re doing wort you would need a small lap top centrifuge, but it makes the measuring process very simple. Your results are displayed right there on the screen.”

Also available is the BeerLab Junior, a condensed alternative to the BeerLab that can be customized with three parameters.
