Up your beer IQ: Watch this Beer U module on the history of beer

February 2, 2015Keith Gribbins

The oldest alcoholic beverage can be traced back to China in 7,000 B.C., but the Sumerians (modern day Iraqis) were the first to cultivate barely and make beer. We suggest you read Hymn to Ninkasi; Ninkasi was (is?) the Sumerian goddess of beer. How do we know all of this excellently trivial knowledge? Well, we do this here website, but we also watched the excellent Beer U Module above. It’s the entire history of beer in less than 18 minutes. What more could you possibly ask for as a Monday end-of-day time-waster? Thanks to the folks from World Class Beer for posting. After you’ve finished, go visit worldclassbeer.com and click on Beer U. Also, check out when Great Lakes Brewing Co. actually brewed an ancient Sumerian beer. So many links!
