YCH’s 2020 Veterans Hop Blend now available (sales will support Gary Sinise Foundation)

July 6, 2020Pretty Much a Press Release

Yakima Chief Hops (YCH), a 100 percent grower-owned hop supplier, has launched the pre-sale of the 2020 Veterans Blend, an annual hop product that helps to support United States veterans. The Veterans Blend is available to craft brewers and homebrewers, and YCH makes a charitable donation to a selected nonprofit organization that provides support to the veteran community.

Each year, YCH collaborates with military veteran brewers across the country to select a new hop blend recipe. While this is typically done in-person, this year YCH conducted their very first virtual blend selection, allowing them to continue this important tradition and introducing the opportunity to host global virtual selections in the future. Brewers anonymously voted on their ideal hop blend, creating a recipe that most accurately depicts a truly collaborative hop product. The varieties included in the 2020 Veterans Blend are: Idaho 7®, HBC 692, Sabro®, Mosaic® and HBC 630.

In addition, each year YCH partners with a different nonprofit organization, allowing YCH to give back to the men and women that have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. This year, YCH will be making a charitable donation to the Gary Sinise Foundation, whose mission is to serve and honor America’s defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in ne

“The Gary Sinise Foundation was honored to be selected as the beneficiary of Yakima Chief Hops’ 2020 Veterans Blend.” said Khristina Cook, Corporate & Community Relations Manager at the Gary Sinise Foundation. “Yakima Chief Hops’ commitment to honoring our nation’s heroes and their loved ones is inspiring and we are so grateful for their generosity and support, especially in the midst of the current COVID-19 health crisis.”

The Veterans Blend is available to commercial and homebrewers in traditional T90 pellets and an array of packaging sizes. Commercial craft brewers are encouraged to place a pre-sale order by Sept. 14, allowing them to brew and pour in time for Veterans Day. The blend will be available to homebrewers later in the fall in time to brew on Veterans Day. YCH encourages both commercial and homebrewers to involve their neighboring veterans in the exciting brewing process.
