We’re big fans of the urban village of Northside in Cincinnati. You can catch us collecting vinyl at Shake It Records, head-nodding to great local bands at the Northside Tavern and eating the best goddamn burgers ever made at the new neighborhood bistro Tickle Pickle. Oh, and we gotta take time to pilgrimage to the holy sanctuary of Urban Artifact. This craft brewhouse specializes in making beer via locally caught wild yeast, bacteria or mixed cultures of both. The actual brewery is housed in the old St. Patrick’s church in Northside (just look at this place), replete with a taproom, full bar and live music.
We were super excited to see that Urban Artifact announced it will be packaging its beer beyond draft. In fact, it’s going with cans, and just check out these adorable designs, which balance arty charm and cool kitsch. A can launch event in the brewery’s Northside taproom, located at 1660 Blue Rock Street, is set for Dec. 9 at 4 p.m. The initial launch will include Finn (Berliner Pale Ale) and Sliderule (Chocolate Raspberry Gose). We want them both.
Finn has been a staple of the Urban Artifact line-up since the brewery’s opening and has garnered much acclaim including, an appearance in GQ Magazine last November. Finn will be available in six packs year round. Sliderule is the winter iteration of Urban Artifact’s fruited Gose line of beers. Sliderule will be available in six packs seasonally during the cold winter months.
The cans will be distributed in the Cincinnati and Dayton markets by Cavalier Distributing beginning the week of Dec. 12. Launch events are set for Cappy’s Loveland, Growler House, Delhi Liquor, Craft Pointe and White Oak Marathon during the initial launch week. For more details, visit the Events section of cavbeer.com. And congrats to Urban Artifact; we’re big fans.
