Close Brewery Rentals showcases one-way steel kegs: CBC Preview

March 17, 2014Chris Crowell

ExportKegs (EKegs) from Close Brewery Rentals in the United Kingdom are the only one-way steel keg solution for beer export from the U.S., the UK, continental Europe and Canada. Close Brewery Rentals are specialized in international keg rental programs. The company manages the third-largest keg and cask fleet in Europe – not being a brewer.

The Ekeg allows for easy shipping into international markets.

EKegs are 30-liter stainless steel Euro kegs and come with a D-type safety extractor, tailor made and ready to fill for U.S. craft brewers who want to export their draft beer to Europe and Canada. Brewers only pay a fee for each EKeg filled.

EKegs can be individualized with the brewery’s own brand through labels and all Ekegs wear RFID.

Ideal for shipping internationally

EKegs are available for export to all EU countries and Canada. So you can keg your beers in the U.S., send it to any market in the E.U. or Canada and Close Brewery Rentals takes care of the rest, including picking up the empties from your importers/wholesalers. You pay per fill and forget about the reverse logistics.

The operational expenditures (OPEX) for a craft brewer using EKegs are comparable with renting a car from Avis. CBR´s services as well. This is the ideal concept for safely sending premium draft beers to bars and pubs anywhere in Canada and Europe.

Standard fill fee per EKegs starts at $15.50 from La Vergne, Tenn., (as an example), but this fee is substantially discounted depending on annual volumes. One U.S. pallet (42 kegs) is the minimum order. CBR can also arrange competitive transportation from La Vergne to any brewery in any state of the continental U.S. for a fee.

Key Features of EKegs

  • For use in the EU and Canada through CBR approved importers only.
  • Once empty, EKegs will be collected “in country” by CBR´s local forwarders.
  • Signing up to CBR’s EKegs Agreement and being credit-approved gives on-demand access to as many EKegs as needed in export markets.
  • All EKegs have color bands in bright orange and wear an RFID device to aid tracking and recovery by CBR in foreign markets.

Head to the Close Brewery Rentals website for more information, send an e-mail to [email protected]. or talk about keg exportation over a pint at the Craft Brewers Conference & BrewExpo America at booth No. 926.
