Coachella Valley Brewing, Young’s Market partner for California distribution

March 13, 2014Jason Morgan

Coachella Valley Brewing Co. announced the appointment of Young’s Market Co. of California as its statewide wholesaler. This will give Coachella Valley Brewing Co. immediate access to statewide distribution. Young’s Market Co. will have available three of CVB’s most popular styles: Desert Swarm, Kölschella and Monumentous India Pale Ale in both package and draft (in select markets).

Coachella Valley Brewing Co.Desert Swarm is Coachella Valley Brewing Co.’s take on a Belgian style Whit beer referring to the beer’s cloudy appearance. Desert Swarm is brewed with raw, unmalted wheat, imported Belgian malts, oats, locally grown coriander, Kumquats and killer bee honey. The coriander, cumquats and honey are all grown within the Coachella Valley. Paying homage to a style that was once almost extinct, Desert Swarm decants with the color of apricots, with a foamy alabaster cap of Belgian lacing, that dissipates quickly releasing the flavor of citrus and honeycomb.

Kölschella is as fun, popular and whimsical as the annual local music festival. Kölschella is a kölsch light golden hybrid ale which is fermented warm and then lagered to produce a crisp, clean and refreshing ale. Kölschella is light in body with a very pale straw color adorned with a whipped cream-like head. Our kölsch has moderate bitterness due to the additions of imported German noble hops such as Hallertauer.

Rounding out the Young’s distribution portfolio for Coachella Valley Brewing Co. is Monumentous. By definition, a monumental occasion is one of very great significance and size, Coachella Valley Brewing’s Monumentous, aptly named after the Joshua Tree National Monument, is much more. The company employs hop additions to the kettle, whirlpool and use whole hop flowers, as well as two separate dry hop additions to create a true-to-style West Coast India Pale Ale.

The partnership was made possible thanks in large part to Tom Del Sarto, Coachella Valley Brewing’s director of sales. Del Sarto has extensive experience in the beer distribution industry as a vice president/general manager and partner of a S.F. Bay Area Coors/Miller distributor. Del Sarto carries with him more than 38 years experience in the distribution business including his current practice of consulting for premium brand beer and spirits distribution.

With its grand opening on August 30, 2013, Coachella Valley Brewing has gone from a small lofty notion into a full-fledged reality. Focusing on the uniqueness of the Southern California desert, Coachella Valley Brewing strives to connect both ends of the Coachella Valley through quality locally grown ingredients and expertly crafted beers. Locally-owned and operated in Thousand Palms, Calif., Coachella Valley Brewing is committed to crafting beer that showcases the agricultural and attitudes of the desert.
