Deschutes Brewery enters Nebraska, shows off Woody

October 1, 2013Jason Morgan

Deschutes Brewery announced distribution into Nebraska. The Oregon-based brewery will be working with Johnson Brothers of Nebraska, part of Johnson Brothers Liquor Co., which has been serving the greater region for 60 years. To celebrate this new partnership and its Nebraska debut, Deschutes is launching with a series of special events in the Omaha and Lincoln areas.

Deschutes’ Woody is a giant, good-times-on-wheels mobile bar that will be making its way to Nebraska to celebrate the brewery’s new distribution partnership.

The events are scheduled from Oct. 15 – 18, and they promise to be the perfect opportunity to try  official Deschutes Brewery Nebraska launch beers, including award winners and style leaders Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Black Butte Porter and Chainbreaker White IPA. Event goers can also make small talk with a brewer and other personalities from Deschutes Brewery.

Deschutes will also show off one of its more unique promotional vehicles (literally!): Woody, the giant, good-times-on-wheels mobile bar rolls his way around Nebraska during launch week, complete with multiple delicious Deschutes Brewery beers, a stereo and a disco ball. He is a natural gathering spot at any event for all thirsty individuals. Being the social, mobile party maker, Woody is also hip to social media and can be followed @DBWoody or Facebook.

Aspiring craft brewers will definitely want to check out Deschutes Brewery’s Hats off to Homebrewers on Oct. 16, 6:30-9:30pm, at the Nebraska Brewing Co. to chat with Nebraska Brewing Co.’s Head Brewer Tyson Arp and Deschutes Brewer Ryan Schmiege. Attendees also get to sip on an exclusive brew made just for the event out of a commemorative snifter, and gather complimentary brewing supplies, including clone recipe booklets and bags of whole flower hops. Be sure to check out the full schedule of events if you’re a Omaha and Lincoln local.
