Fifty West Brewing releases cool new can with Willie Wonka-like removable ticket label

August 11, 2015Chris Crowell

FiftyFest can label

Consider CBB fans of any marketing ploy taken directly from Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. So, we definitely needed to give props to Fifty West Brewing for the pure imagination behind this cool Golden Ticket style idea and the innovative can labeling technology they used to make it happen.

Here’s the deal: In anticipation for its 2015 Fifty Fest on Sept. 19, Fifty West Brewing announced its first-ever can release, to be sold at Fifty West Brewery and select specialty retail stores starting now. But, the fun doesn’t stop there. These special, limited-edition cans each have a removable label with a ‘Golden Ticket’ that’s redeemable for one free entry to this year’s Fifty Fest. With six packs being sold at $9.99 and regular entry to the event at $10, it’s hard not to see the allure. Blue Label Digital Printing helped them with the removable label, and Buckeye Canning took care of the cans.

After nearly three years in business, Brew Master and Co-Owner Blake Horsburgh could not be happier about the strides Fifty West has made in such a short time.

Crown discussing three canning technology innovations

“This is a very exciting time for us at Fifty West Brewing Company. We have a lot of big plans on the horizon and this specialty release is just the tip of the iceberg. But, we would have never made it here today if it wasn’t for our amazing staff and our devotion to those four words that sprawl across our brewery walls: craftsmanship, tradition, innovation, and patience,” Horsburgh said.

This canning run was limited to two of Fifty West’s most popular brews: Rainbow Road Session IPA—an ale brewed with Lemondrop and Azacca hops—and Penny’s Pilsner—a floral German Pilsner. With less than 1,000 six packs hitting the market, you’ll want to head out to your favorite brew stop right away because they aren’t going to last long.

Pretty cool, right? Consider this is your cue, craft brewery readers, to one-up Fifty West and start working on a legit Fizzy Lifting Drink (which, I suppose you could claim to do already) or a functional Wonka-vator.
