Lakefront Brewery expands distribution into North Dakota, Minnesota

February 9, 2015Jason Morgan

Lakefront Brewery Inc. announced its partnership with beer distributor Bergseth Bros. Co. to bring product to the North Dakota and western Minnesota market. The increased distribution follows several packaging and brewing upgrades at Lakefront, including a $1.5 million warehouse expansion, completed at the end of last month.

lakefront breweryLakefront Brewery’s director of business development Chris Johnson stated, “We are eager to partner with Bergseth Bros. Their 60-plus year history selling beer in the North Dakota market means we can count on their reputation and expertise to successfully move our product in this new market.”

Bergseth Bros. sales manager Keith Bergseth said, “The craft beer segment of the industry is growing at a tremendous rate and we are excited to add Lakefront to our portfolio. Lakefront fits in to our strategy of having great brands and great people.”

Lakefront Brewery Inc. was started in 1987 and is celebrating its 27th anniversary this year. The brewery distributes its products to 36 states, Canada and Japan. Lakefront Brewery Inc. was the first brewery to brew a government-approved, gluten-free beer, New Grist, and the first to produce a beer using all ingredients grown in the same state, including an indigenous Wisconsin yeast strain, Wisconsinite. Bergseth Bros. Co. is a family-owned business, founded in 1946 by brothers Milton and Arno Bergseth. Originally a fish wholesaler with a single beer brand, the company shifted focus completely to beer distribution in 1961. Today, Bergseth Bros. has 41 employees, a beer portfolio of more than 100 brands, and distributes product to 650 North Dakota and Minnesota restaurants, retailers and bars.
