MicroStar Logistics to acquire keg repair, maintenance operation

April 13, 2015Chris Crowell

microstar logistics pooled kegs programMicroStar Logistics has signed an agreement to acquire Tosca’s keg repair and maintenance operation. Tosca has a track record of providing best-in-class repair and maintenance services, which MicroStar will build upon in support of the beer industry. This new division will operate under the name MicroStar Quality Services.

“MicroStar has been one of our largest customers for decades and we’ve seen firsthand their commitment to maintaining the highest quality fleet,” said Eric Frank, Tosca’s President and CEO. “It is the highest compliment when a long-term customer chooses to pursue acquiring your business. We know each other well and believe that they will provide an ideal home for our employees and brewery customers.”

MicroStar, as you may be aware, is a pooled-asset keg management company that cuts the keg ownership headaches out of the equation and reduces a beer’s carbon footprint.

“This acquisition supports the beer industry’s commitment to quality,” said Michael Hranicka, MicroStar’s President and CEO. “For over 40 years Tosca has fine-tuned a remarkable set of tools and techniques to keep kegs looking and working like new while extending the life of these valuable assets. We view their capabilities as core to our business and critical to the entire beer supply-chain. Since their founding, Tosca has serviced the quality needs of the largest and most demanding brewers in the world. Their experience provides the foundation for our new operating division, MicroStar Quality Services. Our scale will allow us to expand Tosca’s capabilities to local markets and make their leading-edge services accessible to more brewers who own their own kegs. We are excited to welcome these world-class employees to MicroStar.”

Keg quality services for MicroStar customers include access to Local Quality Technicians as well as access to state-of-the-art keg line diagnostic tools to help brewers improve efficiency and ensure proper keg filling and cleaning. MicroStar’s quality services for brewers who own their own kegs include keg repair, valve repair, keg branding and rebranding and keg retrieval. In addition, MicroStar is now the largest seller of used kegs as well as new kegs offering quality kegs in multiple sizes including ½ bbls, ¼ bbls, 1/6 bbls, and 50 liter.
