Here’s some fun facts about Utah via 50states.com:

  • Utah is the site of the nations first department store. Zions Co-operative Mercantile Institution was established in the late 1800’s. It is still in operation today as ZCMI.
  • The Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City took 40 years to complete. The Mormon temples in St. George, Manti and Logan Utah were completed before the Salt Lake Temple.
  • The Great Salt Lake covers 2,100 square miles, with an average depth of 13 feet. The deepest point is 34 feet.
  • State symbol: The Beehive symbolizes thrift and industry.

Another fun fact: Ninkasi Brewing Co. craft beers are now available throughout Utah. Well, that might be the most interesting fact so far! In a partnership with General Distributing Co. of Salt Lake City, Utah marks the ninth state where Ninkasi is sold.

“We are excited to continue to build craft beer culture and community in a state that has a lot of great beer fans, breweries, and of course, all kinds of spectacular recreation,” said Nikos Ridge, Ninkasi CEO and co-founder.

Since 2006, co-founders Nikos Ridge and Jamie Floyd have built a steadfast offering of year-round craft beers ranging from highly-hopped Northwest IPAs like Total Domination IPA and Tricerahops Double IPA, to smooth, complex stouts, to a year-round lager, as well as seasonal and special release offerings.

“Our valued retail partners are excited to welcome Ninkasi and offer their excellent lineup of brands to the beer drinkers of our state,” states Andy Zweber, president and CEO of General Distributing Co. “Ninkasi will help shape our growing craft beer movement with great beers and a commitment to adding value to its consumers’ experiences.”

Utah craft beer drinkers will be able to find Ninkasi available in 12- and 22-ounce bottles, well, right now. Go get some already!
