If you find taxes boring, enjoy these delightfully stacked barrels instead.

Nothing says Monday fun like taxes. Luckily, the Beer Institute knows both fun and taxes. Perhaps we’re generalizing here, but the trade association does represent the whole of the $253 billion American beer industry. The Beer Institute’s members include everyone from America’s largest brewers to some of the country’s smallest craft brands. The organization is a great source of statistics, and last week, the Beer Institute published an unofficial estimate of domestic tax paid by beer brewers. Cue the introductory horns!

The June 2015 domestic tax paid estimate is 16,600,000 barrels. June 2014 removals were 16,500,000 (revised) for an increase of 60 percent. Please note the following monthly revisions from previous releases:

Taxes paid on beer during 1st 6 months down 1.7% from 2014 (and thus, sales/production). Via @craftbrewingbiz: http://t.co/b2HuOw13PR

Valid comment. That’s the number the BI gave us, but we’re double checking. Thanks B.
