Queens Brewery will finally move to Queens

May 4, 2015Keith Gribbins

Queens Brewery
Imagine an indoor space that will include a brewery with a tap room and bar and an outdoor beer garden. In fact, one of these cars could be yours.

Queens Brewery has been brewing in upstate New York for more than a year, but it will soon get its ideal location in the borough fitting its name. Queens brands (like Queens Lager and Queens Blau) are currently available on tap at dozens of bars around NYC, but they will soon be sold in cans in stores throughout New York when the new facility opens up.

According to the real estate company Kalmon Dolgin Affiliates Inc. (KDA), Queens Brewery has arranged a 7,200 square foot lease at 1539 Covert Street in the Ridgewood section of Queens. The brewing company will occupy 7,200 square feet of the 35,000-square foot, two-story building, which also features a 2,400-square foot lot of land.

Queens Brewery has been operating out of a space upstate in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., for the past year. The brewery plans to open at 1539 Covert Street in September, using the indoor space as a brewery with an onsite tap room and bar, and the outdoor space as a beer garden.

The property at 1539 Covert Street is between Irving and Wycoff avenues, situated right on the Queens-Brooklyn border. The Halsey Street L subway line is around the corner, as are the B20 and B26 bus routes. What exactly is Queens Brewery all about? We give them the floor:

Collectively, we are a global phenomenon of old and new world beer drinkers from the first settlements of Maspeth, Flushing & Jamaica. We are small business owners hailing the streets of Jackson Heights, Long Island City & Astoria pursuing the Queensmerican dream. We are die-hard Mets fans, not fully understanding the meaning of 7th-inning-stretch, huddled together at the Cuckoo’s Nest for 10 innings of Game 6. We are fearless graffiti artists leaving marks of immortality and demarcation at 5Pointz & PS1. We are the roar of the crowd smashing pint glasses from Arthur Ashe as Sampras serves us five heart-stopping U.S. Open Titles. We are more than 72 million passengers of JFK & La Guardia swapping stories of 16oz conquests with perfect strangers. We are Whitestone’s New York Times bringing you the American iconic Sunday crossword as you sip your favorite hops over morning brunch. We are the world within a borough, and we celebrate it distinctively.
