Goodwood Brewing will open cool new concept in Bowling Green, Kentucky (The GameYard Social)

June 21, 2023Keith Gribbins

Goodwood Brewing continues to open up cool locations we plan on visiting. Headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, Goodwood has been making award-winning craft beer since 2005. In 2019, Goodwood expanded its portfolio to include barrel finished bourbon and rye, so the company is now the complete Kentucky package going by Goodwood Brewing and Spirits.

Over the years, Goodwood has continued to expand its presence beyond Louisville with new locations in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio — excellent bar/restaurants in places like Lexington, Frankfort, Indianapolis and Columbus. II doesn’t stop there. In the near future, the company has an Owensboro, Kentucky, location opening in July, and after that Goodwood will bring a whole new concept to its portfolio in the town of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Here’s a preview:

This fall, Goodwood Brewing aims to open up the The GameYard Social, which it touts as a “family-friendly and fun spot for anyone looking for a place to gather,” according to the press release. This is another bar and restaurant combo from these great beer and food makers, and this destination is teasing a relaxed backyard atmosphere where beer and spirits will mix with games, TVs, live entertainment and plenty of space to spread out and hang out. From the press release:

“Gather around a firepit. Grab a table. Pull up a bar stool. We wanted this concept to be fun and interactive with plenty of room to have a good time.” Chris Sparks, Goodwood Holdings. “I feel like Bowling Green will be the perfect place to bring this new concept and I’m excited to launch it in my hometown.”

FYI: Bowling Green also has that sweet Corvette museum. Looking to be an equally big attraction, The GameYard Social will include a full kitchen featuring American favorites, a large outdoor game area, private rooftop dining space and cabana-like areas available for rent. What type of games? Well cornhole, life size beer pong, Connect Four, duckpin bowling, giant Jenga and (my favorite) foot pool. There will also be indoor and outdoor bars that offer plenty of TVs so you don’t miss the game, and these will not just serve craft beers but a variety of bourbons and spirits along with cocktails because Goodwood makes all that now.

The GameYard Social will be located at 1010 State Street. According to the release, construction is already underway. Williams and Associates have led the project on architecture, and Alter Development is overseeing general construction with local Bowling Green vendors. Operations will be managed by Goodwood Holdings. The GameYard Social is scheduled to open fall 2023, so start planning now. If you can’t make it down, just remember that Goodwood beers are available in Kentucky, Indiana, Alabama, Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Florida, and Texas and Goodwood spirits are available in Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and Texas.
