Two Roots Brewing brings non-alcoholic, non-cannabis infused beer to BevMo! in California

August 28, 2019Keith Gribbins

Cannabeer pioneer Two Roots Brewing Co. has struck a big distribution deal for its non-alcoholic, non-THC infused beers at BevMo! stores across California starting this September. This past February, the company announced the expansion of Two Roots to the California market with both THC-infused beer and products and a full spectrum of CBD-infused options at dispensaries. Now it will be the only non-alcoholic, non-THC-infused beer from a major “cannabeer”-focused brewer in a booze retailer like BevMo!, which has about 170 stores located throughout California, Arizona and Washington, noting this distribution is only for Cali.

BevMo! is the leading alcoholic beverage specialty retailer in the western United States. Two Roots has always been positioned and focused to be the first big cannabeer to start distributing across the United States. Even if it’s non-alcoholic, non-THC-infused, it’s still a big step. Here’s Chief Operating Officer Tim Walters, from Two Root’s parent company Cannabiniers, in a press release from last year:

“Last week’s Constellation Brands and Canopy Growth transaction validated our position as a first mover specialty adult beverage company; our Nevada launch of Two Roots has us an estimated year ahead of the world’s largest alcohol companies, and an estimated three or more years a head within the U.S. as a result of federal laws.”

Now, the company is further ahead. Also last year, Cannabiniers  announced its bold vision of having access to 500,000 bbls of capacity annually under contract or acquisition by mid-2020. So, the company has plans.

Cannabiniers is based in San Diego, and it makes everything from THC-infused beer to hemp-derived CBD products like bath bombs. The Two Roots brand launched in Las Vegas, and today it even has a taproom in a dispensary near the convention center. I’ve been there. It’s quite excellent.

Two Roots is also claiming to be the first brand to the mainstream retail channel with this trio of products: 1) alcohol, non-alcoholic and cannabis-infused beer. Triple whammy.

Two Roots was quick to note that non-alcoholic beer is one of the fastest growing segments in the beer market, growing at approximately an 8 percent CAGR over the past few years. Two Roots is not missing that wave, promoting an “authentic craft beer experience, that is low calorie, vitamin B12 fortified, and electrolyte filled beverage that can be incorporated into a daily, active lifestyle,” said the press release.

“The demand for high-quality, healthier, low-calorie products continues to grow, and we’re excited to partner with BevMo!, so that those who don’t find themselves visiting a dispensary can still enjoy the taste of our craft beers in their native form,” said Michael Hayford, CEO of Lighthouse Strategies, parent company to Two Roots Brewing Co. “With the goal of reaching all consumers, Two Roots is the first cannabis brand to enter traditional retail, and in doing tackling three key beverage segments; craft beer, non-alcoholic craft beer and cannabis infused non-alcoholic craft beer, and two of the fastest growing global trends.”

These Two Roots Brewing non-alcoholic beer products will be available at BevMo! stores in six-packs across California starting September 2019. Find one near you.
